The Hensard University Law Journal (HULJ) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Law, Hensard University. The Journal publishes high-quality scholarship across all fields of law and promotes rigorous analytical thinking in both established and emerging areas of legal development.

We welcome full-length articles, reviews, short notes, and case law analyses. Publication in the Journal is free of charge.

Aims & Scope

HULJ publishes original research across all branches of law including: Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law, International Law, Corporate Governance, Energy and Natural Resources Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Technology Law, and Public Policy.

The Journal encourages doctrinal, comparative, empirical, policy-oriented, and interdisciplinary scholarship addressing contemporary legal and governance challenges in Nigeria and globally.

Author Guidelines

  1. Format: Microsoft Word, UK English, double spacing, Times New Roman (12pt). References must appear in footnotes. Include an abstract.
  2. Citation Style: Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) Citation Guideline (View Guideline).
  3. Author Details: Include full name(s), institutional affiliation, postal address, and email address.
  4. Word Limit: Full articles ≤ 7,500 words; short notes ≤ 3,000 words (inclusive of footnotes).
  5. Originality: Manuscripts must not have been published or submitted elsewhere.
  6. Citation Format: HENSARD UNIVERSITY LAW JOURNAL (HULJ VOL 1 2026).
