Volume 1, Issue 1 of the Hensard Journal of Health Governance and Digital Transformation (HJHGDT) is a special inaugural issue dedicated to Malaria in Pregnancy (MiP), a persistent public health challenge with significant implications for maternal and neonatal health, particularly in malaria-endemic regions.

This special issue brings together interdisciplinary research examining MiP through the lenses of health governance, service delivery systems, digital health innovation, and data-driven decision-making. Contributions address the effectiveness of antenatal care policies, preventive treatment coverage, diagnostic and surveillance systems, equity in access to maternal health services, and the role of digital technologies in strengthening MiP control and monitoring.

The issue emphasizes evidence-based analyses of governance frameworks, institutional coordination, health information systems, geospatial and digital surveillance tools, and implementation bottlenecks affecting MiP interventions. Particular attention is given to the use of digital platforms, routine health data, and spatial analytics to improve targeting, accountability, and performance of MiP programs.

By integrating empirical research, policy analysis, and applied digital solutions, this inaugural issue aims to inform health policymakers, program managers, researchers, and development partners on strategies to enhance MiP prevention, diagnosis, and treatment while advancing health system resilience and maternal health equity.
