The Hensard Journal of Film and Media Studies (HJFMS) is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Hensard University, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, educators, media practitioners, policymakers and postgraduate scholars to publish original and innovative research in film, media, communication and related disciplines.
Call for Papers: Volume 1, Number 1
The Hensard Journal of Film and Media Studies invites scholars, researchers, media professionals and postgraduate students to submit original manuscripts for consideration in Volume 1, Number 1.
Submissions may address any subject within the journal’s focus and scope, including film, television, journalism, communication, digital media, visual culture and related interdisciplinary areas.
Manuscript submission deadline: 30 October 2026
All submitted manuscripts will undergo editorial assessment and independent peer review.

HJFMS publishes theoretically informed, methodologically sound and professionally relevant scholarship addressing African, Global South and international experiences in film and media.

Peer Review and Editorial Standards
Every research manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine its relevance, originality and compliance with the journal’s requirements. Suitable manuscripts are subsequently evaluated through independent peer review.
Editorial decisions are based on scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, relevance to the journal’s scope and compliance with research and publication ethics.
Open Access
HJFMS supports the broad dissemination of scholarly knowledge. Published articles are freely accessible to readers in accordance with the copyright and licensing conditions adopted by the journal.
Publication Ethics
